Amy's what they call her

There are not enough words that can Amy Winehouse's voice. I've been a musician-fan (yes i said musician-fan) of her wayyyyy before us Americans knew about her- Thanks to my UK friends. I had the pleasure of stumbling across this video and I had to post it.

Live Studio session of VALARIE

If you get time you should YOUTUBE her and watch a few of her interviews. She's interesting to say the least. If you do not have her Album by now I need for you STOP READING this blog and go to iTunes and buy it. The best way ans ONLY i can describe her voice is the 60's meets Ela Fitzgerald and stopped off at Motown. It's clear to the ear that she has a unique voice. It's Soul-Jazz with a Bluesy edge. I believe it just what Soul and Blues (esp R&B) have been missing.

She makes me feel like I can sing. She just makes it look so damn easy. This next video is one one my favorites.

SLAP!

It's been YEARS since the production of A RAISIN THE THE SUN a it still shakes me at my core. It moves me and shapes my thoughts and actions into something beautiful and evenly colored. The story of an African-America family struggling but wanting better.

I remember sitting in Mrs. Casandra May Honors English class and Reading the poem before the preface...A dream deferred, by Langston Hughes...

Rick & Steve the happiest couple in all the world.

Have you heard about the new show on the Logo network? Well if not I'm not sure what planet you live on. Rick & Steve the happiest gay couple in all the world is a jaw-dropper. This Lego-like cartoon are the funniest thing since jack in Will & Grace (in my opinion). The one thing that I really love about this show is that they touch on just about everything that is associated with the GLBTQ community from looking for a donor, AIDS, therapy, conflict between Lesbian women and Gay men, to the stereotypes that heterosexual perpetuate. It's a jaw dropper.

Warning: There's puppet-on-puppet sex, drugs and swearing.

You just simply have to watch this. Warning: You may fall from laughing.

NYC Blast on 42nd street

Today there was an explosion this afternoon in NYC and so many people were worried that it was another terriost attack."A steam pipe installed in 1924 ruptured in a thunderous explosion shortly before 6 p.m. today, sending steam, water and debris shooting outward and sending clouds of smoke and dust billowing through Midtown Manhattan at the height of the evening rush. One person died of cardiac arrest, and more than 20 others were injured. The authorities ruled out any criminal activity, saying the explosion was apparently caused by a failure of antiquated infrastructure". -NY times
